Glaze Thinning

Duncan

Technique Description: Glazes can thicken over time. Fortunately glazes can be thinned with water or AS 957 Thin 'n Shade.

Step 1: Pour water into glaze
Glazes can thicken over time. This is normal. Glazes can then be thinned with water. Just pour in water until you reach the required consistency.
Step 2: Stir in water
Thoroughly mix water into the glaze.
Step 3: Apply glaze
Brush on glaze as recommended.
Step 4: Add Thin 'n Shade into glaze

Glazes can also be thinned with AS 957 Thin 'n Shade.

Thin 'n Shade is a nontoxic water-based medium that can be mixed with any Duncan water-based ceramic color, fired or non-fired. It is an excellent problem-solver in areas where the water system contains contaminants that can affect ceramic color results. Thin 'n Shade prolongs the drying time of colors so they remain workable for a longer period.

Step 5: Mix
Mix Thin 'n Shade with any water-based ceramic color to the consistency required for the specific decorating technique.
Step 6: Apply glaze
Brush on glaze as recommended.
